Single strand black and white stone and bead necklace

Image
Who doesn’t love black and white, right!? This necklace is 17 inches plus a 2 inch chain extender, made on .38mm beading wire and finished with a lobster claw clasp. Even though it’s made with polished gem stones, it’s fairly lightweight and very comfortable to wear.

Memory wire bracelet 5 layers assorted green seed beads plus blue green glass beads

Image
This beautiful memory wire bracelet is made with seed beads in light blue, turquoise and green. The middle later is made with round blue-green glass beads. Memory wire is really easy to wear- it holds its shape and fits any wrist size.

Double strand necklace clear seed beads with princess crown design

Image
This is my first time making this necklace design and I really like how it turned out. I was inspired by these awesome double-hole flat beads I bought from Fire Mountain Gems (the gray beads shown in picture above). The necklace is two strands but it’s connected by a double bead about every inch. I call it “princess crown design” because I think the front resembles a tiara. I used some metal spacer beads on either side of the three larger glass beads to make it more shiny. It’s about 17 inches plus a two inch chain extender, made with .3mm silver beading wire and finished with a silver colored lobster claw clasp.

Beaded lanyard on 1mm stretch cord with gorgeous blue glass beads

Yes, I also make lanyards!!!  If you have to wear a lanyard and ID badge to work, why not wear something that looks like a beautiful necklace? (Versus a black thick piece of fabric embroidered with your employer’s logo). This hangs just below my bra line, leaving plenty of room for an ID badge. You can also switch out the clip for a necklace pendant and take this beauty out on the town after work! I’ve also made a chain lanyards- but I gave it away so I don’t have pictures, but I can definitely custom-make more on request. Also, as always, if you’re a fellow jewelry maker or just jewelry enthusiast, I welcome your feedback on any and all of my posts!

Double strand beaded necklace rust and brown with acrylic and glass beads and leaf pendant

Image
My co-workers, friends and family really like this necklace. And of course, so do I! The seed beads are glass but the larger beads are acrylic, so it’s light weight. The leaf pendant is metal and could be removed or replaced if desired, but I think the leaf really looks wonderful with the necklace design. This is about 18 to 20 inches in length, made on .38mm copper colored beading wire, finished with a rust gold colored lobster claw clasp.

Necklace black and white beads and stones

Image
This is fairly simple but so classy and stylish! It’s about 18 inches in length, made on .3mm beading with and finished with a lobster claw clasp. The stones are polished and smooth and they are comfortable to wear.

Beaded necklace double strand purple and pink- so pretty!

Image
So I love the double strand look- but I’ve changed my style from my original double stand necklaces ( see my first two posts for examples). At first, I made both stands separated from end to end. Now I’m joining the strands for the first four inches and last four inches of the necklace, so it’s technically only doubled- stranded for about 12 inches. I like it both ways, it’s just a matter of preference. The benefit of this style is it’s more comfortable against your neck line, it’s a little lighter, and I think it accentuates the larger beads even more because of the contrast between the smaller seed beads in the back.  The color of the smaller seed beads is Smokey amethyst, and the other glass beads are various shades of purple and pink. The length is about 18 inches (not including the pendant). The pendant is hand make with a headpin and jump ring so it is removable. As always, my necklaces are made on sturdy beading wire (never on plastic filament- which is basically fishing li

Double strand black and metallic multi colored glass seed bead necklace with pendant

Image
As you can probably tell by now, I love all of my creations, so sorry for sounding redundant but I really love this necklace. 🙂. I used some plain black seed beads and some multi colored metallic seed beads- so it still looks black overall but the  metallic beads give it extra flair. It’s two strands- on .38mm black beading wire with a lobster claw clasp. The two stands are connected together about every 1 1/2 inches by a double-hole flat glass seed bead. The pendant is hand made( I bought the metal part of course but I put the beads on myself with pliers and headpins). The bail won’t come off, but I can switch the charm out for a different charm- but it really does look lovely just as it is. Also I’m not positive on the length but it’s a standard length- around 18 inches.

Beaded necklace- dusty metallic pink pearls with butterfly charm

Image
This necklace is simple yet classy, and can go great with a casual outfit or a dressy outfit. It’s about 17 inches- I can add and extender chain to make it longer if desired. This one has a standard spring necklace clasp, made on .3mm silver beading wire with small (4mm) faux dusty metallic pink pearls, with metal spacer beads for accent. It has a buttery charm for a focal point but the charm can easily be changed out of you prefer a different charm.

Beaded necklace- red and brown glass seed beads with leaf pendant

Image
I love these glass beads - they have a metallic finish and they look more like stones or gems. They look prettier in the sunlight. I used glass seed beads for the first 2 or three inches on either side- I do this to make it more comfortable- so the big beads don’t get caught in your hair or lay against the back of your neck all day where no one will see them anyway. 🙂 The charm is just a glass leaf pendant- it’s not on a slide bail- so you can easily remove it with pliers if you want to put a different charm there or just wear it without a charm. I haven’t measured this one either- it’s about 18 or 20 inches in length. It’s made on .38mm copper colored beading wire, finished with a lobster claw clasp and a cute tiny little metal leaf charm for decoration. Just a side note- it’s not symmetrical- but I made it that way intentionally. I personally think it looks cool this way, but if you prefer symmetry, I could definitely make another one that was symmetrical. 🙂🙂

Beaded necklace blue and green glass beads - really pretty

Image
This necklace is really pretty - made on .3mm silver beading wire and finished with a lobster claw clasp and 2 inch extender chain . I haven’t measured it but it’s a standard length - about 18 inches. I’m used small round silver metal spacer beads in between the glass beads so they won’t chip over time. The pendant is hand-made with a jump ring, small slide  bail and a long glass bead on a decorative headpin.   The pendant can be switched out for any other charm- you just need pliers to open the jump ring.

Beaded necklace - wood beads, metal beads and glass seed beads, tiger eye pendant

Image
This necklace is unique from my others- I really like how it turned out. It’s a single strand necklace made on .38mm beading wire with a lobster claw clasp and 1 inch chain extender. Made with opaque brown colored seed beads, copper metal spacer beads, brown/red/tan wooden beads, and a tiger eye pendant (pendant looks the same on both sides). I haven’t measured it- but it’s a standard length- about 18 inches (not including the pendant). All of the beads blend together really well, and it’s light weight and really sturdy.

Triple strand floating necklace with brown and rust glass and acrylic beads

Image
This necklace is a little longer- about 20 inches in length- I haven’t measured it. It hangs really well (see photo). It’s made on .38mm copper colored beading wire- 3 strands total. I used acrylic and glass beads, also metal rust colored spacing beads. It’s finished with a lobster claw clasp. It doesn’t have a chain extender but I can easily add one if desired. It’s light weight and a very pretty color.

Double strand necklace gray and clear glass beads with Leaf charm

Image
This necklace is a double strand necklace made on .3mm silver beading wire and finished with a lobster claw clasp. The length is about 18 inches plus a 2 inch chain extender. The charm is a small gray leaf but it can easily be changed out to a different charm. The two strands are twisted together intentionally.

Pink illusion necklace 24 inches with silver beading wire and 6 inch chain extender

Image
This is a 24 inch necklace with a 6 inch chain extender (so it can be as long as 30 inches), and a lobster clap claw.  The beads are glass and acrylic, and the beading wire is .3mm silver beading wire.  It's sturdy and very light-weight!

Three strand crackle clear glass bead and silver chain necklace

Image
Length- about 16 to 18 inches (hard to measure because of the three strands) with a 2 inch chain extender.  The beads are clear glass beads, with metal and cubic zirconia spacer beads (on head pins with jump rings attaching them together).  The chain is really sturdy, and the necklace is light weight.  Necklace is finished with a lobster claw clasp.

Natural colored glass stone and shimmery glass seed bead necklace

Image
This necklace is really beautiful- and it's light-weight and comfortable to wear.  The back of the necklace is made with shimmery glass seed beads, and the front half of the necklace is made with beautiful glass stones in pink and brown earthtone colors.  I put seed beads in between each glass stone so that the stones won't rub together and chip over time. This necklace is made on .38mm copper beading wire, it's 17 inches in length plus a 2 inch chain extender.  It's finished with a silver lobster clasp.

Double strand necklace with white beads and white charm

Image
This is a double strand necklace made with small white seed beads (the inner strand is made with 2mm or 3mm beads the outer strand is made with 4mm beads).  Length: 15 1/2 inches for the inner strand and 17 1/2 inches for the outer strand, plus a 2 inch chain extender.  There is a small white glass bead charm attached to the inner strand.  The necklace is finished with a gunmetal colored lobster clasp.

Memory bracelet in blue glass beads and blue acrylic rondelle beads

Image
This is a three-layered memory wire bracelet made with two different colors of blue glass seed beads, and acrylic rondelle-cut blue beads for the middle strand.  Very pretty!

Stretch glass and metal bracelet in gold and purples

Image
This bracelet is made on clear stretch cord that is 1mm in width (so it's more firm than the .5mm cord).  It slides on and holds it's shape well.  Also, the back side of the bracelet is made with small glass seed beads, so it's easy to type or work while wearing it because it doesn't get in the way. :)

Wooden and glass seed bead memory wire bracelet in brown and pink

Image
This one turned out really pretty.  It's three layers and made of memory wire, so you just slide it on.  The wire holds it's shape and it's very comfortable to wear.

Double strand glass seed bead neck, purple, with charm

Image
This is one of my favorite necklace designs. It’s a double strand necklace using all glass seed beads (2 or 3mm- super small) for the inside strand, and larger seed beads (4mm) for the outside strand. I used a needle to thread the tiny seed beads on my 3mm beading wire- that took about 20 or 30 minutes. I bought the bigger seed beads on a strand from Michael’s- so I just slid my beading wire through the permafrost strand, which is so much faster. It probably took me 5 minutes to make this strand. I used a lobster claw, jump ring, and crimp beads to finish the necklace. The charm is also from a pre-made bead strand that I got a Michael’s. I really like the colors on this- it’s prettier in person. 🙂

Double strand necklace with acrylic beads wood beads and glass seed beads

Image
This is the first double strand necklace I made. I think it turned out pretty well for my first one! I watched a great YouTube video on how to make a double strand necklace and it inspired me. I used copper colored 3mm Beadalon beading wire- just one piece of wire folded in half. The longer strand is about 21 inches and the shorter strand is about 18. I used various wood beads and acrylic beads- some round, some rondelles, and a few of those bone- shaped wood beads. I also used gold colored glass dead beads. I used a gold colored lobster claw and gold jump ring in the back with about 2 inches of gold colored extender chain. I used crimp beads to finish the necklace ends.  It’s necklace is very lightweight- that’s the benefit of using acrylic versus glass beads. Also, glass beads chip and crack over time , but acrylic won’t.  I also made a matching bracelet with stretch cord. 🙂

Clear glass crackle bead necklace

Image
This is a 17 inch necklace made (with 2 inch chain extender in back). It’s made with silver 3mm beading wire. I used the following beads: 7 clear glass crackle beads (10mm in size), 8 square acrylic clear beads (about 4mm in size), 8 gray diamond shaped/rondelle beads (about 4 mm in size), 2 round metal spacer beads, 14 metal flat Tibetan spacer beads (about 3mm in size- these beads are on either side of each glass crackle bead to protect the glass from chipping over time) and several (maybe 30) silver colored glass seed beads (for the back of the necklace). I used a jump ring and silver lobster clasp in the back along with two silver crimp beads and two silver crimp bead covers to finish the necklace. This necklace is lightweight and it’s boot made of any metal so it won’t get hot in the summer. The beading wire is pretty stturdy so it makes the necklace pretty durable.

For the love of beads

Hello! This blog is all about DIY jewelry and beading. I only started making jewelry two months ago, but in two months I’ve already made at least 60 pieces of jewelry. I started with a simple stretch bracelet while I was watching my children make bracelets with pony beads. Now I’ve made double and triple strand bracelets, double and triple strand necklaces, earrings, hemp bracelets, and ankle bracelets. I’ve used beading wire and stretch cord mostly for my stringing. My regular vocabulary now consists of words like crimp beads, crimp covers, lobster claws, jump rings, bails, spacer beads, wire cutters, round-nosed pliers, etc. I have calloused hands from using pliers every night to bend head pins and secure crimp beads. I have converted my “guest bedroom” (in four years we’ve had one guest stay for 14 hours- so it wasn’t much of a guest room anyway) into “Mommy’s beading room “.  I was trying to keep all my beads organized in tackle boxes and storage containers, but now my card table
